Three men on bench |
Description |
Photo back said, "Elzie Parr, John Arnett, Grandpa Wood." As late as the 1960s, a number of retired men often sat in ront of the grocery store on the north side of Bethel Rd. They also played dominoes. Note broken window. (P. Wilson, resident, 12/12/01) I remember all three. I often shopped for Mr. Parr on Saturday mornings. We would have hot cocoa & donuts as we watched cartoons on his old console T.V. (6 inch black and white). I visited with John Arnett & his daughter Mary and with Mr. & Mrs. Woods (she always gave me fresh pomegranates & her old Sears catalog for paper dolls. I was about 10 years old. (D. Parrish Hawley, resident, 7/22/20) Mr. Arnett was the custodian when I was in grade scohool. When we were first married we lived across the creek from Mr. Parr. I never saw him drive a car. He was a small man and walked to the post office every day. (Barbara Lee, resident, 10/24/02) |
