1956. Mr. Elgie Parr and Floyd Harwell on the porch of Harwell's barbershop, corner of W. Bethel and S. Coppell Roads (SE corner). The small shop was moved in in the mid-1950s to replace Harwell's shop in his house to the east. Note the porch has not been added yet. (See photo #797.) (P. Wilson, resident, 12/22/11)

This bank was originally located on the SW corner of Belt Line and present Southwestern Blvd. This photo of the sign is looking north/northwest. The small building at the right was Bill Cozby's real estate office. Photo said, "February, 1974." This was not actually the first bank in Coppell. "February , 1974" Although it's named "First Coppell Bank," it wasn't. The first bank in Coppell was located downtown and went out of business even before the Depression. When this bank moved, it moved across Belt Liine and more south. At one time this bank was owned by Don Carter, Coppell resident, V.P of Home Interiors, and owner of the Mavericks Basketball team. Grapevine Ice Company. My family would stop here on our way out of town to go on summer vacations and get a block of ice. My father would put it in a cooler in the car and chip it up. Frank Patrick delivering ice (Zelma Plumlee, resident, 10/24/02) This is the Coppell iceman and he's holding a chunk of ice. He delivered regularly in that truck for residents' ice boxes. I know because an old-timer told me directly and gave me the photo. (J. Murph, member, 8/21/2020)

I've seen another copy of this photo which identifies this man as a doctor who lived in Coppell. (Pete Wilson, resident, 12/13/01) The April, 1978 "Elm Fork Echoes" identifies this man as Dr. F.N. Camp, the first doctor to live in Coppell. He came about 1890 and officed in the first drugstore, a two story frame building. The Odd Fellows Lodge was upstairs.
